The Wall We Build

  • How much more we learn from experiences than from reading books. “HANDS ON” I think it is called. Reading is a wonderful experience and brings out all kinds of emotions and feelings, but we can all read the same book and interpret it differently. That is because of what we have learnt in life. Those experiences that shape our beliefs, emotions and values.

I look upon it as if building a wall, the older you get, the taller the wall. The foundation of that wall is childhood experiences. If that foundation is solid the wall will be stronger. A solid foundation has nothing to do with wealth and possessions. When people describe their childhood they talk about people, places and things that happened. The more a child can experience the more it will be prepared for “THE BIG WORLD” It does not have to be all good emotions either, as life is a difficult journey. We all agree on that one! I would like to share with you some of my childhood experiences as they have given me the answers to who I am today.  Knowing who you are, are all the positive feelings you can think of.

I was brought up by my grandmother and had her unconditional love always. The wonderful freedom came from roaming barefoot on the islands in a Norwegian fjord. I can remember the excitement of picking a ripe banana from a huge bunch of green ones (brought home by uncles from foreign lands). The wonderful feeling seeing a calf born and seagulls eggs hatch. I could write forever about good feelings and emotions from that time. However when I entered into the real world I was not prepared. So what I am saying is that we need all kinds of experiences. Good and bad, to be able to grow. I was going to write a story about a urine sample and my first big decision in life but will leave that for another time.

Please share with me your feelings, and I would really like the answer to this : What does a Vitamin look like?
