Succession Planning

  • Sustaining performance through having the right selection and development programmes in place allows means the business isn’t reliant on me!

You know how it is….work’s fantastic – you’ve got a great team – they all know exactly what they’re doing – they’re delivering great results – they still need you to keep them on the straight and narrow but then that’s what you’re there for, isn’t it?

Well is it? How do they function when you’re not there? Do you just check that things are OK when you’re away? Do they ring you when you’re languishing by the pool? Oh and what if it’s not just about you? What if your ‘Rock Star’ of a Sales Manager suddenly decided they wanted a new challenge somewhere else or your ‘Rock Steady’ Operations Manager who ‘glued’ everything together decided that it wasn’t for them anymore.

These questions and more besides are crucial because actually, in our experience, business is not about today, it’s mainly about tomorrow. To continue the ‘Rock Star’ theme, there’s no such thing as a status quo, our belief is that you’re either going forwards or backwards!

Understanding what the business needs tomorrow and most importantly, who it needs for tomorrow, is a critical issue if competitive advantage and top performance is to be sustained. Building and planning for growth and crucially understanding the different skill sets and organisational challenges that arise as the dynamics of the business change are key components of continued success.
